Internships in Latin America can be a great way to gain experience. Whether you are looking for an internship, university credit*, professional development or just want to volunteer with us for the longer-term, we can work with you to develop specific project-based and/or research-based work. These volunteer projects can provide valuable learning experiences, while also helping our organization to maintain sustainability and grow. Volunteers in this category should ideally plan on volunteering for at least 3 months, longer is always preferable.
In the past, interns and longer-term volunteers have implemented a wide variety of volunteer projects and research papers such as:
- Community education initiatives e.g. SODIS
- Leadership and sexual education programs for teenagers
- Community demographic surveys
- Community development & impact papers
- Marketing plans
- Informational videos or short documentaries
Please note that projects are to be coordinated with local staff and will be implemented if they are in line with our objectives and are sustainable. Due to the high demand for research projects and the sensitivities in dealing with the community, we must coordinate beforehand and reserve the right to decline the proposed project.
If you are interested in participating in Proyecto Horizonte’s Internship program or in being a long-term volunteer, please fill out our Volunteer Form indicating interest in Internship. Please do note that you should already have an idea in place for your internship or long-term volunteer project before contacting us.
*We are able to work with you and your University to determine if course credit is a possibility for your volunteer project or internship.
